A couple of months after I graduated from college, I moved down to Los Angeles for an unpaid internship. I thought this experience was going to be a lot of things, but I never expected to feel as lonely as I did. My dad, who’s been fit his entire life and looks like he never ages, noticed that I seemed down all the time and told me he would pay for me to get into an activity that would get me out of the house and moving. Enter SoulCycle.
My very first class was intimidating, to say the least. The room was very dark, it was hot as heck, and the riders were moving so fast to the beat of the songs that I felt like I was playing catch up for forty-five minutes. Although I could barely move the next day, the experience of letting go of everything and dancing to music while getting in a good workout had me hooked.
For the remaining months that I lived in LA, I went to a SoulCycle class every week. I would have loved to go more, but let’s be honest SoulCycle classes aren’t cheap. I had found a new obsession that I wasn’t willing to give up and luckily didn’t have to because there would be three studios near my house when I moved back to the Bay Area.
This promo video encompasses every emotion and motivation that I feel when I snap into the bike and start tapping it back. SoulCyle is my mental and physical escape on good days, bad days, and all the days in between. Let me know what your escape is in the comments below, I’d love to read them!
